One year of being an associate professor
It has been a year (and a bit) since I got promoted to associate professor at TU Delft.
What has changed between being an assistant professor and associate?
There is a bit more coordination and collaboration, but all in all, I need to increase my leadership efforts in the university.
The major change is that a large chunk of my time is now devoted to writing research proposals. However, this change seems to be more related to the cycles of research (and having my two largest project finish this year), rather than the new job description.
All in all, most of my work is similar to what it was like before the promotion. In general, a few things have picked up pace, so I need to strongly lean on my systems to organize myself and keep everything afloat. I do feel like my systems are key here, and probably a major contributor to being able to handle a lot of ongoing projects and tasks. I learned the tools to set myself up for success over the past years, so I am equipped to organize myself and my time.
Did you notice major changes in your work distribution when you became an associate professor?
