Quick note on listening to music while working

I virtually always listen to music while I am working – my noise-cancelling headphones help me to do what they are supposed to do: block out noise. And then I listen to music – a broad variety of music as well as soundscapes. When I’m writing, I don’t like lyrics or classical music that features any instrument I play, as I find this to be distracting. For many years, I’ve gravitated towards music with distorted vocals (my PhD thesis was 75% written to The Gallery by Dark Tranquillity, best album ever). I recently learned that music with lyrics in languages I do not understand at all also works. As a polyglot, I have to search far for languages I do not understand or do not try to figure out – so for now, I’ve settled on Finnish and some Russian music. I’m open for any other suggestions you have!
