Parenting As An Academic

Parenting as an academic

A while ago, I ran a poll on Twitter to see which percentage of academics are parents. I received only 83 votes, so my population is quite small, but I found that almost 50% have children. I also know from research I did that the mean number of kids is 1.4.

We can compare these results to a poll I did longer ago for PhD candidates, where I found that a quarter of them have kids. These results seem to make sense, as people move through different life stages the chance they become parents increases.
