Evaluation of my Fall 2024 goals
As always at the end of a semester, I reflect back on the goals I set for myself, and how I did on these.
Here’s how I did with regard to my Fall 2024 goals:
- Submit 4 papers: Two journal papers are resubmissions, 1 is a new submission, 1 is as coauthor, 1 is ready and in review with my coauthors. I also submitted 2 conference papers for next year.
- Research report: Two reports completed and approved.
- EU proposal: Submitted!
- Other proposals: I worked on 16 proposals this year. Two are not submitted yet (one is due in January, one in May), one is already rejected, and for the rest I shall practice Patience.
- Teach graduate course on Assessment of Existing Concrete Structures: New format of the course with prerecorded videos – I think it was generally well-received.
- Teach undergraduate Bridge Design course: Yes, I am waiting to get my course evaluations, but the students did well in class.
- Work on next deliverables of EU project (nothing due this year, but I need to make progress): We worked on conference papers and abstracts, and progressed with the experimental work.
- Finalize project on fire research: All reports are done, papers in review, and one conference paper is to be written.
- Analyze natural fiber tests further: Some progress – perhaps not as much as I would have wanted
- Plan final year of 2 PhD candidates: Three actually! They are in various stages of planning their final year.
- ABET accreditation visit: The visit is past, the emotional offload was major afterwards. And now we wait for the official outcome.
