Evaluation Of My Summer 2025 Goals

Evaluation of my summer 2025 goals

As always at the end of the semester, I’m checking how I did with my goals:

  • Submit 4 papers: I submitted two R1s, an editorial, drafted a paper that is with my coauthors, submitted a review and am halfway writing another paper. So far, so good.
  • Draft 3 EU proposals: I made progress on the proposals, but have not consolidated the consortium yet for these. At the same time, I led and submitted a proposal for Lloyd’s of London and collaborated on a handful of other proposals as well.
  • Motivate my PhD students who are close to finalizing their thesis: Difficult one, but I am doing my best?
  • Work on next deliverables of EU project: Yes, that went well.
  • Start part 2 of the fire safety project: The project is still not granted.
  • Finalize and bill one of my load testing projects: Closed and the bill will be sent at the end of the year.
  • Meet with funding body and see continuation of projects: Meetings and ideas, yes – but so far nothing signed.
  • Strengthen collaborations in Europe: Working on it through conferences and meetings.
  • Plan my next summer: As I don’t have projects or travel funding for next year yet, it is difficult to plan my travels and my summer period.

All in all, I have worked a lot of hours this summer, but I don’t feel like I made as much progress as I wanted – mostly because I have not been able to secure funding for next year.
