My highlights of 2025 by month

One of the exercises I always do at the end of the year, is to make a list of what was my main highlight of each month of the past year, as it helps me see what the best moments of the year were (often related to traveling, for me), and what I should focus on for the next year.

Here’s what 2025 looked like on a monthly basis for me:

• January: going to TRB in DC (although the snow made it a challenge)
• February: working on major proposals
• March: travel to ACI in Canada
• April: research trip to Chile
• May: IABSE in Tokyo
• June: collaborate with colleagues from Spain for our EU-funded project
• July: annual research stay in Delft
• August: summer holiday in Belgium + IABSE in Ghent
• September: teach the new version of my course
• October: a wedding in the family
• November: organizing national IABSE event in Quito
• December: christmas parties and seasonal fun
